Liberty glasses bring iconic British design to eyewear

If you want to achieve the high fashion eyewear look at an affordable price tag, then you’re in luck. That’s because the iconic luxury brand, Liberty, has partnered with Specsavers to curate an exclusive eyewear range. The new launch combines Liberty’s signature heritage-inspired designs with vibrant prints to create a modern yet unique collection.

In total there are 19 new frames to choose from — including three pairs of sunglasses and four children’s styles — and each pair comes with a covetable, timeless Liberty print case. Check out some of Specsavers top picks below!

What inspired the Liberty glasses collection?

In the words of Madeleine Macy, CMO at Liberty, the collection “perfectly captures the heritage of Liberty’s, remastered for the now. The design focus has combined the rich cultural heritage and vast textile history of Liberty fabrics, creating a modern and relevant interpretation of the Liberty style.”

Expect to see intricate art nouveau details in enamel, including Liberty’s signature Iphis motif, combined with modern shapes and clever uses of colour to make for (as expected) an effortlessly fashionable approach to glasses design.

Stylish Liberty sunglasses

As a long-standing luxury brand, it’s not surprising that Liberty has chosen to champion classic glasses shapes. Adding modern touches to trusted styles transports classic eyewear to the modern day. This is especially true for these black sunglasses. The timeless shape together with the wide-rimmed frame edges make for a sleek yet noticeable front-facing design. The arms tell a different story, creating imaginations of a spring day with the playful floral pattern.

For a more sophisticated look, reach for these classic black frames. The original cat eye shape alongside the minimalistic gold design detail on the glasses arms compliment elegantly. This is a cosmopolitan look that transgresses short-lived fashion trends.

Passion for pattern

The Liberty’s glasses collection combines pattern and colour without losing the luxurious feel. The children’s glasses showcase this creative decision distinctly, like these keyhole-shaped frames. The curves of the rounded style are perfect to rest just on top of plump, blushed cheeks. The rosy pattern is fitting, keeping the specs fun and youthful.

If your child prefers pastel colours, they’ll still stand out from the crowd wearing these crystal pink frames. Though muted at the front, a beautiful floral pattern overlays the baby pink backdrop on the glasses arms — making these the dream glasses for a girly-girl.

Patterns are not for every child, some only want to shine from the inside. Liberty has designed for this understated style too, take these more traditional squared Liberty glasses frames. The tortoiseshell patterned exterior creates a more neutral look for the tomboys out there, with a pop of pattern on the arm interiors to give the frames a level of individuality.

Matching in rounded frames

Try out the rounded look with the below pink hued glasses, and even go for the mother-daughter coordination with the below similarly rounded children’s frames. The adult frames are crafted in a light pink whilst the children’s glasses are made from rose-gold metal. Details have been added carefully to the glasses arms. A colourful pattern for the child, elegant shaping and detailed enamel work for the adults.

Heritage-inspired Liberty glasses

The past year has been filled to the brim with vintage references, and this has been especially clear in eyewear trends. Liberty have drawn on their historical grounding as a quintessentially British brand to bring vintage inspiration to the design of their eyewear collection.

These oversized square sunglasses, for example, are a clear ode to the 1970s. The glasses shape brings in the vintage style whilst the rose-gold frames and dark lenses make them fashionable and feminine, yet still completely wearable.

Want to go even further back? Well, these 1940’s cat eye glasses are beautiful. The delicate art nouveau design on the outer browline makes the glasses completely unique. The intricate metal work is finished with an embedded pearl — a small detail that elevates the eyewear to the level of luxury.
