How often should you have an eye test?
We recommend that you have an eye test at least every two years. If your optometrist has no concerns about your vision or eye health, adults should have one every two years, children's eye tests are recommended every year. But if you are ever concerned about your vision, then just book an appointment, and we can take a look.
Some people may be at a higher risk of developing problems with their sight, including:
- Those with a family history of glaucoma
- Those aged 40 or over
- Those aged 60 or over
If you fall into these categories, it’s worth speaking to your optician to find out how often you should have an eye test.

Private funded customers who pay for a full price sight test during the offer period are entitled to a free complete pair of glasses from the €20 range with standard single vision lenses only. Alternatively, customers may use the €20 value as a contribution towards frames from any higher price point. Additional charge for extra lens options. Offer can only be redeemed once and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or voucher (including for discounted sight tests). Must be purchased in store at the time of the sight test. Reglazes, safety glasses and non-prescription sunglasses are excluded from the offer. Excludes customers eligible for a PRSI / Medical Card funded eye test and/or glasses. Cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred, or used against glasses already purchased.
