Pingueculas are almost always located at a 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock position on the white part of the eye, next to the coloured part. This is because they are the result of UV exposure and this part of the eye receives the most UV.

Any lumps or bumps covered by the eyelid or in a position not next to the coloured part of the eye are unlikely to be pinguecula.

They can be confused with fluid-filled blisters (vesicles) which can look a bit yellow and while they are bothersome, they can resolve on their own.

If you do have a pinguecula, you can try lubricating drops to make it more comfortable, but it's worth visiting your optician for further help.
