How much is an eye test?
Answer:
The charge for a standard eye test (excluding OCT) varies per store but is up to €30. This does not apply for eye tests for driver reports as these are not our standard eye test and the charge can be up to €60. The cost varies depending on several factors, including:
- The location of the store
- If you’re eligible for a free eye test under the PRSI and the Treatment Benefit Scheme. Read more about the eligibility criteria.
- If you’re eligible under the Medical Card optical benefit schemes (funded by the Department of Social Protection or the HSE).
For a full breakdown to see whether you qualify for a free eye test, head to our dedicated PRSI or Medical Card eye test page.
When you book an eye test, you can also book an additional Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) test. An OCT scan is in addition to your eye test and carries a small fee.
