What is a tonometer?
Answer:
This instrument measures intraocular pressure (IOP).
Non-contact tonometers use a puff of air to flatten the cornea. The machine then measures how much the air has flattened the cornea and from this it can calculate the IOP.
It doesn't hurt, but there's sometimes a loud click before the puff of air is delivered.
