Since February 2026, this partnership has been rolling out across the Dublin region*, giving you:

• Local eye care ‑ Access to assessment and treatment for minor eye conditions such as red eyes, blurry vision, sore eyes, or scratched eyes by visiting your local Specsavers store.

• Shared cataract care ‑ Convenient pre‑ and post‑operative checks at your local Specsavers store if you undergo cataract surgery with Medical Optics, keeping your ongoing care close to home.

• Direct specialist referrals ‑ A smooth referral link between local optometry and consultant ophthalmology whenever complex medical or surgical treatment is required.

What happens if my optometrist finds a cataract?

Cataract surgery is a gentle, precision‑guided procedure. From consultation to recovery, the Medical Optics team will explain each stage of your care so you know what to expect.

Treatment starts from €2,700 excluding wrap‑around care before and after surgery. The Medical Optics team will discuss the full package of care required at your appointment, including whether costs may be covered by health insurance. Medical Optics is registered with VHI, Laya Healthcare, Irish Life Health, Level Health, and other major insurers.

Your surgery is carried out by a Medical Optics ophthalmic surgeon.
