Circumference of Ireland
Specsavers Portlaoise, along with Specsavers stores nationwide cycled the circumference of Ireland (5,600kms) between Thursday 5th June and Saturday 7th June, with Specsavers Portlaoise raising over €250 for Specsavers’ chosen charity of the year.
Laois GAA player Padraig Clancy joined in to help the team reach their target distance of 120km. Customers who dropped into the Lyster Lane store to show their support were greeted with a fantastic atmosphere under the large marquee as Supermacs gave out some well-deserved pizza and local DJ, Brocken O’Reilly played music.
There was a fantastic effort made by the entire Specsavers Portlaoise team, who succeeded in cycling the target of 120km on the day.
Last year, 3,074 children from Co. Laois attended Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, meaning there were on average 8 admittances each day.
