Monaghan get involved in charity cycle
The team at Specsavers Monaghan recently put their wheels in motion by holding a fundraising static cycle for The Hope Foundation.
The cycle took place throughout the day, with members of the Specsavers Monaghan team pedalling during the course of the day.
Specsavers Monaghan store director Kathleen Campbell said: ‘As one of Specsavers’ supported charities, we were delighted to take part in a fun activity to support The Hope Foundation. We would like to thank locals for their amazing generosity on the day and would like to extend a big 'thank you' to Fitness Habit who donated a bike to the store for the fundraiser.’
The Hope Foundation
In 2017, optometrists from Specsavers stores embarked on a volunteering trip with The Hope Foundation to Kolkata where over 1,000 eye tests were carried out on people across slums, schools, hospitals and rural villages in the region.
The team also dispensed over 300 pairs of glasses and 600 pairs of pre-made bifocals to those who were tested. In addition, urgent referrals were made for eye disease and trauma-related issues, as well as 100 referrals for cataracts, to The Hope Hospital.
As part of the fundraising campaign, Specsavers staff will return to Kolkata in October, alongside new ambassador – Darren Kennedy.
