Superhero fun day for Crumlin
The team at Kilkenny recently hosted a Superhero Family Fun Day, raising €350 to go towards the refurbishment of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin’s ophthalmology unit. Specsavers stores across Ireland have committed to raising €100,000 for their charity of the year, and have just passed the halfway mark following successful fundraising activity throughout the year.
Store staff made a fantastic effort to dress up for the day and face painters were on hand to ensure visitors and passers-by really got in on the action. The Market Cross Shopping Centre store was fully decorated for Halloween, with raffles and collections taking place throughout the weekend.
Michelle Carew, Store Director at Specsavers Kilkenny, said of the fundraising activity: ‘We’re delighted that our staff were so enthusiastic and involved with the day’s events. It was also great to have local people stop by and really engage with all the action. We always find the people of Galway to be very generous when it comes to donating to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and the €350 raised is further testament to this. I’ve no doubt that Specsavers will hit our €100,000 target within the year.'
The Department of Ophthalmology at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin, for which Specsavers is fundraising for improvement, typically diagnoses and treats over 10,000 patients annually, being one of the busiest departments in the hospital.
