Climb for Crumlin
As part of the newly launched CFC campaign, Specsavers staff member Tony Power will embark on the epic journey of climbing to Mount Everest Base Camp.
Employees and customers from specsavers stores across the country will go the distance on stair climber machines to raise much needed funds for the development of the Ophthalmology Department in Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin. Having exceeded last year’s target by raising €120,000 for the hospital, Specsavers Ireland announced that it will be extending its commitment by pledging to raise an additional €100,000.
The day was a massive success, with the total funds raised reaching just over €1,300. All staff members took turns on the cross trainer, along with the help of a number of generous volunteers. Over the course of the day a staggering total of 170km was covered on the machine.
The store also held a bake sale that was full of delicious homemade treats. It was a fantastic day, with plenty of interest from those passing by, not to mention a few strange looks!
