Super success at superhero event
The team at Dun Laoghaire hosted a Superhero Family Fun Day event on Saturday 8 November, raising a fantastic €700 to go towards the refurbishment of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin’s ophthalmology unit.
Store staff made a fantastic effort to dress up for the day’s superhero theme and face painters were on hand to ensure visitors and passers-by really got in on the action. The Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre store was fully decorated for Halloween and raffles, collections and even a pie toss event ran throughout the day.
Store director, Peter Curtis said of the fundraising activity: ‘We’re delighted that all of our staff dressed up and were so enthusiastic and involved with the day’s events. It was also great to have local people stop in and really engage with the face painters and Specsavers staff. We always find the people of Dun Laoghaire to be very generous when it comes to donating to Crumlin and the €700 raised over the weekend is further testament to this. I’ve no doubt that we will hit our €100,000 target within the year.’
The Department of Ophthalmology at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin, typically diagnoses and treats over 10,000 patients annually, being one of the busiest departments in the hospital.
