Drogheda search for Irish Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2017
Specsavers Drogheda recently held a SWOTY scouting night in local pub Weavers. Store staff were on the lookout for Ireland’s next Spectacle Wearer of the Year, encouraging entries from the locals. The Drogheda team provided a selection of glasses and props for people to try on and snap a selfie with their favourite frames.
The event was a huge success and secured over 100 SWOTY entries, with people even queuing to enter the competition.
Spectacle wearer and local blogger Dawn Finnegan, was on hand with the Specsavers team in Weavers, encouraging people to take a ‘specsy selfie’. Dawn, who was recently nominated for ‘Best Makeup Blogger of the Year’ at the Irish Beauty Blog awards, will choose one winner from all the Drogheda entries who will win a pair of designer frames and a shopping voucher.

Proud specs wearers
Specsavers Drogheda store director Fiona O’Donnell said: ‘It is great to see so many people willing to get involved and have their picture taken for SWOTY. Not only is it a fun competition, but it also raises much needed funds for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, with Specsavers donating €1 for every entry it receives. We will be taking entries up until Sunday, 02 July so there is still time to enter and compete to become the next Irish SWOTY!’
