Store provide eye tests and glasses for Chernobyl Children International
The store recently invited a group of children from Chernobyl to have their eyes tested and where necessary, fitted for glasses by the team of experts in store. The 10 children were on respite in Cork and staying with families within the locality. The staff at the store thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the children, conducting check-ups, whilst providing them with advice and fitting them with complimentary glasses.
10 Years of Support
Speaking about their visit to the store, store director at Specsavers Opera Lane John Morrin, said, “We were delighted to have welcomed this group of children from Chernobyl Children International once again this year. This is the 10th year that our stores have engaged in a partnership with them, which has been a great success and we take great pride in contributing to the care of these children in any way we can. Regular eye checks are a very important part of their overall healthcare routine and unfortunately, access to eye care is not available for these children in their hometown.”
John continues; ‘Many of these children are at risk of contracting illnesses which would go undetected without an eye examination. It was great to see the kids so happy to have their eyes tested. For many, it was their first time and our staff welcomed the chance to help the children pick out new glasses. The difference the glasses will make to their sight will be so beneficial to their everyday lives, so we were more than happy to help out.’
