Cavan thanks anonymous donor
Specsavers Cavan was thrilled to discover an anonymous donation for Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) recently from a kind-hearted and generous customer.
Over the last year, the in-store collection box has received fantastic local support – with over 400 pairs of frames being donated in aid of Vision Aid Overseas. These glasses are then donated to the charity to help improve the eye health of those less fortunate in the developing world.
Upon emtyping the in-store collection box this month, a mysterious envelope was discovered and, inside the unmarked envelepe was €100 cash with a note that read ‘Donate to children in need of glasses/eyecare.’
Store director Ronan Finn commented: ‘We were delighted to discover this generous donation and would like to give special thanks to our anonymous donor. This lovely act of kindness will help improve the sight of children that are less fortunate and assist with the work that Vision Aid Overseas carry out in Zambia.
Vision Aid Overseas
With the help of Specsavers, the international charity is committed to providing eyecare for people living in Zambia. Previously, there had been very limited provision for the one in four Zambians who desperately require it, with just a handful of qualified optometrists serving the 12 million population.
Continued to support
To date, the store has received approximately 400 pairs of donated glasses. The store will continue to encourage the local community to donate their old and unwanted frames and ensure they will be used for a great cause.
