Specsavers teams up with Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin for Christmas 2014
Specsavers Ireland are proud to continue their ongoing support of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin for Christmas 2014. All 48 Specsavers stores across Ireland will be selling Christmas cards in aid of the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation.
This year, Specsavers stores across the country have committed to raising €100,000 to go towards the refurbishment of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin’s ophthalmology unit, following successful in-store static cycles and family fun day fundraisers. Staff and customers alike have shown the utmost dedication in working towards the final goal together.
Our Lady's Children’s Hospital, Crumlin first opened its doors in 1956 and provides a high standard of care to the 130,000 children availing its services every year. The Department of Ophthalmology at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin, typically diagnoses and treats over 10,000 patients annually, being one of the busiest departments in the hospital. The service provides care to children suffering from common eye conditions, such as squints, which if left untreated can result in sight problems. In addition the service offers evaluation and treatment of other complex eye conditions such as congenital cataract, congenital glaucoma and visual problems associated with neurological disease. The department was expanded last in 2006 with the addition of two additional clinical examination rooms and the patient waiting area.
Specsavers stores are hoping that local communities will help them in supporting the campaign this Christmas by availing of the wonderful cards for sale in all stores. The cards are available in a range of festive designs to spread Christmas cheer and support a very worthy cause.
