Spectacle Wearer of the year - store award
On Tuesday 6 October, Specsavers hosted the annual Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year final in London.

Specsavers has crowned James Adenrele (25-34+) from Milton Keynes as the overall winner of the Spectacle Wearer of the Year awards. The Grand Final was hosted by former Spice Girl Emma Bunton and Bradley Walsh at a star studded event in 8 Northumberland Avenue. Guests on the night included celebrities such as Sarah Harding, Louis Walsh, Natasha Hamilton and stars from hit TV shows like Made in Chelsea and The Only Way is Essex.
Known as the Oscars of the glasses world, the awards celebrate specs wearers from across the UK and Republic of Ireland, with the overall winner receiving €12,000, a wardrobe of specs to the value of €1,000 and a luxury holiday to the Bahamas.
On the night, Specsavers Blanchardstown received a very special award known as the Spectacle Wearer of the Year Store Award. The store was acknowledged for their efforts in raising the most money in Specsavers UK and Ireland stores for their chosen charity, Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. Through their fantastic commitment, and promotion of the competition in Ireland, the store has raised a significant amount of money needed to start the refurbishment of ophthalmology unit in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. At Specsavers Blanchardstown, €1 from each competition entry was donated to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
Speaking at the Grand Final, Store Director Kerril Hickey said, ‘We are absolutely over the moon to be acknowledged with this award here in London. We are delighted with our achievements to date and feel very proud to be supporting the charity with our fundraising efforts. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my staff at the Blanchardstown store for their continuous hard work and determination to promote these awards and raise a huge amount for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
