The nation’s favourite father and son duo, Martin and Roman Kemp, have partnered with Specsavers to celebrate local heroes who have raised smiles and helped people in their community feel more connected through the year. A winner from Ireland will win €1,000, a Specsavers' voucher to spend in store and a call from Martin and Roman Kemp to thank them for their kindness.

Competition terms and conditions:

  • 1. Who can enter: The competition is open to all persons aged 18 and over (both Nominators and Qualifying Entrants as defined in paragraph 2.1), resident in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Republic of Ireland, excluding employees of any Specsavers store company or Specsavers Group company, their immediate families or anyone else professionally connected with the competition 
  • 2. How to enter: 
    • 2.1. To enter the competition, an individual (the “Nominator”) must fully complete the online entry form and nominate someone who has done anything that has made a positive difference for individuals, a community or group during the Covid-19 pandemic, and submit their nomination to Specsavers via their website.  The nominee is the “Qualifying Entrant” for the purposes of these terms and conditions. Entries can be submitted via the Specsavers website ( for all entries from the UK, Channels Islands or Isle of Man, and for all entries from the Republic of Ireland) (“the Entry” and all together referred as the “Entries”).
    • 2.2. The competition will commence on 14 December 2020 at 00.01am (BST) and end on 15 January 2020 at 11.59pm (BST) (the “Entry Period”).
    • 2.3. Entries must be received during the Entry Period.  Specsavers accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost, delayed, corrupted or not received for any reason. Inappropriate, offensive, illegible or late Entries in the opinion of Specsavers will not be accepted and shall automatically be disqualified.
    • 2.4. Entries submitted outside the Entry Period will not be included in the competition. The time of an Entry will in each case, be the time the nomination is submitted online through the Specsavers website.
    • 2.5. Proof of transmission will not be proof of receipt.
    • 2.6. Only one entry per Nominator will be accepted into the competition.
    • 2.7. No purchase is necessary to participate in this competition.
  • 3. How the competition works:
    • 3.1. All entries accepted and received by Specsavers during the Entry Period will be screened and a judging panel composed of Martin and Roman Kemp, a Specsavers representative, and representatives of the agencies Beattie Communications Group Ltd. and Tangerine Partnership Limited, will select nine regional winners (one per “Region” as listed in section 3.2) (the “Regional Winners”). Nominations will be selected based on the positive difference that the Qualifying Entrants have made to individuals or communities. If further information is required, the Nominator or Qualifying Entrant may be contacted to supply further information.
    • 3.2. The Regions are: Scotland, North East, North West, Midlands, South East (including London), South West, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.
    • 3.3. The Regional Winners will be drawn after the Entry Period and by no later than 21 January 2021.
    • 3.4. The Regional Winners will be contacted by telephone or email by 5.00 pm (BTS) on 25 January 2021.
    • 3.5. The Regional Winners must claim their Prize within 48 hours of being notified by responding to or contacting Specsavers directly via telephone or the following email: 
    • 3.6. If a Regional Winner cannot be contacted and/or refuses or fails to agree to these relevant terms, then Specsavers reserves the right to reallocate the Prize to another Qualifying Entrant.
    • 3.7. The prize is non-transferable and Specsavers will not be responsible for any inability of a winner to take up the specified prize. 
  • 4. Prizes: 
    • 4.1. The prize for each of the Regional Winners is:
      • a) £1,000 (or €1,000 for Irish residents) in cash;
      • b) £129 (or €189 for Irish residents) Specsavers’ eyecare voucher to spend at the Specsavers store the Regional Winners choose in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, or Republic of Ireland*.
      • c) Specsavers Smile Makers certificate;
      • d) A video call with Martin and Roman Kemp on 3 or 4 February 2020 (date and time to be confirmed by Specsavers) which shall be recorded for use (subject to Specsavers’ confirmation) in accordance with the terms of sections 4.4. and 4.5; and 

        *All Specsavers’ eyecare vouchers awarded as a prize in accordance with this clause 4 cannot be used in conjunction with any other Specsavers offer, are limited to prescription glasses only, and subject to all other terms and conditions printed on the voucher.
    • 4.2 The prize is not transferable and there is no cash or other alternative prizes available.
    • 4.3 By accepting the Prize, the Regional Winners accept these Terms and Conditions.
    • 4.4 The Regional Winners agree that by accepting the Prize they consent to their names, and any photos and/or videos featuring them, being placed on a list of winners made available in accordance with clause 5.5.  The Regional Winners may be asked to participate in publicity, including any advertising/PR campaigns on any Specsavers media, including social media.
    • 4.5 The Regional Winners also agree that their video call with Martin and Roman Kemp as part of the Prize shall be recorded and may be used (in whole or in part at Specsavers’ discretion) in an edited video on any Specsavers media, including without limitation Specsavers’ social media and websites. Specsavers has the right but not the obligation to use the Regional Winner’s image, or any photographs and/ and videos featuring them.
  • 5. Personal Data
    • 5.1. Personal data obtained in the process of the competition will be collected, stored and processed for the purposes of administering the competition. It will be held by Specsavers and its subsidiaries and holding companies and any subsidiaries of its holding companies (the “Specsavers Group”) either manually or electronically. The information will be restricted to authorised users only and treated in the strictest confidence.
    • 5.2. Specsavers may provide your personal data to the following third-party providers: Tangerine Partnership Limited ( of Giant’s Basin, Potato Wharf, Castlefield, M3 4NB, Beattie Communications Group Limited ( of 4 Great James Street, Holborn, London, WC1N 3DB, Martin and Roman Kemp, The Target Marketing Group Limited ( of 105-107 Bath Road, Cheltenham, GL53 7LE, Freshwater UK PLC ( of Raglan House, Cardiff Gate Business Park, Cardiff, CF23 8BA, J Comms ( of Sylvan House, 232-240 Belmont Road, Belfast, BT4 2AW, Wilson Hartnell Public Relations Limited ( of 6 Ely Place, Dublin 2, Ireland (the “Third-Party Providers”), in connection with the competition and for the purposes of, including but not limited to, the maintenance and organisation of the Specsavers website, Facebook page, Twitter page, reviewing Entries, judging, the administration and/or organisation of the video call referred in these Terms and the redemption of the Prizes.
    • 5.3. Personal data may be held by Specsavers, the Specsavers Group and the Third-Party Providers, for a period of up to 18 months after the closing date of the competition (15 January 2021).
    • 5.4. These terms will be subject to the Specsavers’ Privacy Policy, which can be found at
    • 5.5. All winners’ names will be made available on request in writing to Specsavers Optical Group Limited (address below) after 1 February 2021.
  • 6. General: 
    • 6.1. The legal promoter of this competition is Specsavers Optical Group Limited, La Villiaze, St Andrew’s, Guernsey GY6 8YP (“Specsavers”).
    • 6.2. The decision of Specsavers on any aspect of the competition is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
    • 6.3. No cash alternative is available for the Prize. Prizes are subject to availability and Specsavers reserves the right to alter or substitute any of the prizes with a prize of a similar value. 
    • 6.4. In consideration of accepting the Prize, each Regional Winner grants a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to Specsavers to feature any or all of the images and/or video footage submitted as part of the Entry, and images and/or video footage taken of the Regional Winner by Specsavers in connection with the competition, in any publications and/or in any promotional material connected to the competition including all online, social media and additional platforms owned or utilised by  Specsavers. Images are not returnable.
    • 6.5. Specsavers reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend or amend the competition or revise these terms and conditions without notice and by continuing to take part in the competition subsequent to any revision to these terms and conditions, the Regional Winners shall be deemed to have agreed to any such new or amended terms.
    • 6.6. Insofar as is permitted by law,  and except as stated in these terms and conditions neither Specsavers nor its agents will in any circumstances be liable to any entrants for any matter relating to the competition. Nothing shall exclude Specsavers or its agents from liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence.
    • 6.7. The competition and all issues arising out of it shall be governed in accordance with English law and all parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
