Specsavers Letterkenny staff recently took part in a Hell and Back challenge to raise funds for the Donegal hospice.
For those unfamiliar with the race; it’s a gruelling 10km run, that includes crawling through mud swamps and tunnels, crossing ice cold lakes, scaling 10ft tall walls, being shot at with paint balls and attempting to avoid electric wires – It’s as awful as it sounds and the team had fun counting their many bruises afterwards!
However, the Specsaver Letterkenny team were delighted to take part on behalf of the worthy cause and finished with flying colours. When the amount raised by their involvement with the race was combined with individual sponsorship collected by the staff members who participated and a very successful in-store coffee morning, the total donated to the Donegal hospice was a massive €6,060.00.
Martina McMahon, director of Specsavers Letterkenny said of the team’s involvement, “We had a super day. It may have been cold and muddy but the team worked really well together and we raised an absolutely fantastic amount of money for a well deserving cause.”
