Ireland and Leinster rugby superstar Fergus McFadden has teamed up with Specsavers to launch the search for Ireland’s most Unbreakable Friendship, that is as tough as its unbreakable lenses in kids glasses.
All of the children’s glasses at Specsavers are fitted with Trivex lenses as standard. This is the same special material used in the canopies of fighter jets and combat helicopters. Named SuperTough, these lenses are ideal for withstanding the everyday rough and tumble of childhood.
Winfamily days out
Specsavers is asking children to describe why they have an unbreakable friendship, with the best story winning a fantastic day out for them and their pals.
Younger children, under 12 years old, can win a day out at Dublin Zoo, including a meet-and-greet with a keeper plus a special tour.
In the older category, under-16’s can win an opportunity to test out their super-toughness at Courtown Adventure and Leisure Park in Wexford. Entry forms are available in all Specsavers stores in Ireland or online.
Irish rugby-star ambassador
Speaking about the campaign, Leinster and Irish rugby star Fergus McFadden says: ‘Having been such an active kid growing up, I can imagine how easily accidents happen to lenses when active children with glasses are mucking about. These SuperTough lenses will allow children to really get stuck in and enjoy the things they love, without the fear of breaking their lenses and getting into trouble with parents!’
Active and energetic lifestyle
Owen Blee, chairman of Specsavers in Ireland said: ‘We firmly believe that wearing glasses shouldn’t stop children from enjoying an active and energetic lifestyle and we’re so confident about the safety of SuperTough lenses that we guarantee they will not break, crack or chip. They’re absolutely ideal for kids’ glasses.’
He added: ‘We’re really delighted to launch our search for Unbreakable Friendships with Fergus McFadden, a super-tough Irish rugby star who also doesn’t break or crack under pressure.’
