Store teams up with We Care Letterkenny Food Bank
Specsavers Letterkenny is proud to announce that over the coming weeks the store will be raising much needed funds for the We Care Letterkenny Food Bank. Fundraising activities will run until January, with a coffee morning being held in store on Wednesday, 21 December. Letterkenny Food Bank is a community run organisation that works in partnership with local agencies to assist those affected by food poverty and food deprivation in Donegal.
Letterkenny Food Bank
As Letterkenny Food Bank is a non-profit organisation that rely solely on the support of the community, the team at Specsavers Letterkenny is urging locals to make donations for glasses and hearing aid repairs throughout the month of December. The store will also hold a raffle and a food drive, with all proceeds and donations going to the worthwhile organisation. There is a donations box in store for customers to drop in food that will be given to the organisation and in turn, distributed across Letterkenny. The prize giveaway will have an amazing range of goodies up for grabs, including Specsavers vouchers, chocolates, wine and much more. The raffle will take place on Wednesday, 21 December when the store hosts a coffee morning for customers and locals to enjoy.
Specsavers Letterkenny store director, Martina McMahon comments ‘Unfortunately, many families in Letterkenny and throughout Donegal will be affected by food deprivation and will struggle to put food on the table this Christmas. Hunger is unacceptable whatever the month, but for those living on the breadline, Christmas really puts it into perspective. We are urging locals to pop in store, buy a raffle ticket and donate whatever they can for glasses and hearing aid repairs.’
Vital funds and donations
With the help of vital funds and donations, We Care Letterkenny Food Bank can continue to reach and cater to communities affected by food poverty and deprivation in Letterkenny and throughout Co. Donegal. Simply pop in store to purchase a raffle ticket for just €2 with all proceeds going directly to the organisation. Additionally, call in store on Wednesday, 21 December for the store’s coffee morning and donate up until January to the much needed food drive.
