Specsavers Kilkenny is delighted to announce the store’s recent sponsorship of the Tour de Kilkenny and the Marble City Cyclers – the group who organise the charity cycle.
The store supported the Tour de Kilkenny by gifting those who took part with Specsavers-branded cycling jerseys to wear during the charity cycle. Pictured are some of the Tour de Kilkenny participants proudly wearing their Specsavers branded jerseys.
The cycle which is in its tenth year saw over 750 cyclists take part in the Tour de Kilkenny which incorporates 44km, 77kn, 110km and 160km distances, catering for cyclists of all abilities.
Mary O’Donnell, store director at Specsavers Kilkenny, says: ‘We are delighted to sponsor the Tour de Kilkenny for the third year running. The cycle is a great way to raise money for numerous charities such as The Samaritans, Irish Pilgrimage Trust, Teac Tom (The Thomas Hayes Trust), New Ross Meals on Wheels, The Watergarden Thomastown and Waterford Hospice.’
Michelle Carew, store director at Specsavers Kilkenny adds: ‘Specsavers Kilkenny is a local community optician and hearing centre where supporting local clubs, charities and organisations is a key part of our culture. It was fantastic to see so many locals pedal into action recently, and we were thrilled to be able to support.’
Importance of cycle
All profits from the cycle go to various charities and over the past nine years, the group has raised over €120,000 for charity organisations through the annual support of participants and volunteers.
