Store raises €500 for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin
Specsavers Monaghan fundraising activities reached new heights as staff, customers and passers-by participated in a stair climber challenge to raise funds for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
Customers were invited to drop into their local Specsavers and show their support by getting involved in the climb or making a donation to the charity. The day was a massive success with the store raising just under €500 for the worthwhile cause.
Specsavers Monaghan Director Kathleen Campbell said, “We would like to thank the local community for their unwavering support. We were amazed by the level of enthusiasm and the generosity of customers and staff who really got behind the campaign. Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin provides invaluable care to sick children and the money raised is enabling the charity to make a tremendous difference to the lives of families across the country.”
Having exceeded the initial €100,000 fundraising target, Specsavers Ireland recently presented Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin with a cheque for €120,000 and announced that it would be extending its commitment to the hospital by pledging to raise an additional €100,000.
As part of the recently launched ‘Climb for Crumlin’ campaign, Specsavers staff member Tony Power embarked on the epic journey of climbing to Mount Everest Base Camp to help raise much needed funds for the refurbishment of the new ophthalmology department at the hospital.
