Specsavers Ireland recently announced its commitment to raise €100,000 over the next year for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin to contribute towards the hospital’s ophthalmology unit.
Committed to cycling
Specsavers Waterford, along with Specsavers stores nationwide, committed to cycling the circumference of Ireland (5,600kms) on Saturday 7th June, with Specsavers Waterford raising over €2,200 for Specsavers’ chosen charity of the year.
There was a fantastic effort made by the entire Specsavers Waterford team, who surpassed their 120km target for the day and cycled 160km instead, the exact distance from the store to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. The bike used was kindly donated by the local Goldstone Waterford gym.
Last year 2,561 children from Co. Waterford attended Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, meaning there were on average 7 admittances each day from the county.
