Specsavers Portlaoise pedal together to raise over €250 for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin
Specsavers Ireland recently announced its commitment to raise €100,000 over the next year for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin to contribute towards the hospital’s ophthalmology unit.
Commited to cycle
Specsavers Portlaoise, along with Specsavers stores nationwide, commited to cycle the circumference of Ireland (5,600kms) between Thursday 5th June and Saturday 7th June, with Specsavers Portlaoise raising over €250 for Specsavers’ chosen charity of the year. Laois GAA player Padraig Clancy joined in to help the team reach their target distance of 120km.
Customers who dropped into the Lyster Lane store to show their support were greeted with a great atmosphere under the large marquee as Supermacs gave out some well-deserved pizza and local DJ, Brocken O’Reilly played music.
There was a fantastic effort made by the entire Specsavers Portlaoise team, who succeeded in cycling the target of 120km on the day.
Last year, 3,074 children from Co. Laois attended Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, meaning there were on average 8 admittances each day.
