The team at Specsavers Wexford recently hosted a fundraiser in aid of ‘Bright for Sight’ – a Sightsavers initiative dedicated to raising awareness around preventable blindness in developing countries.

The team all donned yellow clothing on the day, with yellow being the colour that stands out to most people living with visual impairments. Customers were also invited to take part in a charity raffle for a chance to win a pair of designer frames of their choice.

Store fundraising

Members of the Specsavers team that took part in their own version of ‘Bake Off’ with staff selling their home-baked delicious yellow inspired homemade treats, including lemon drizzle cake and other sweet bites.

In total, the team at Specsavers Wexford raised €300 which will go towards Sightsavers work in treating eye conditions including trachoma, cataracts, glaucoma, river blindness and refractive errors, in developing countries.

Store involvement

Store director at Specsavers Wexford, Steve Schokman, says: ‘We were delighted to hold a fundraising event for such an important charity which promotes healthy eyecare for those most vulnerable in society. There was fantastic support from locals on the day and we enjoyed a great buzz in store. We want to thank everyone for taking part and making the day a great success!’
