The season of giving is upon us once again and the team at Specsavers Nenagh is appealing to locals, on behalf of Team Hope, to donate to this year’s Christmas Shoebox appeal. Simply fill your Christmas shoebox with gifts which will then be sent to children across the world, many of whom will receive no other gift this Christmas. For some it’s the first gift they’ve ever received.
Tenth annual appeal
For the tenth year running, Specsavers Nenagh will act as a drop off point for the charity. In 2017, Team Hope collected and donated over 264,000 shoeboxes which were sent to countries such as Malawi, Ukraine, Romania, Congo, Lesotho and Kenya.
Show your support
From now until Saturday, 24 November, Specsavers Nenagh is urging customers to get behind the Irish charity and create their own shoebox which will be transported to the poorest countries in the world where children are hugely affected by poverty. The store is asking for individual items, such as toys, hygiene items or school supplies, or ready-to-gift shoeboxes clearly marked for a boy or girl.
Donate what you can
Store director at Specsavers Nenagh, Orlagh Moynihan, commented: ‘We at Specsavers Nenagh are proud to have supported the shoebox appeal for ten years now. It is great to be able to give something back ahead of Christmas and we encourage the local community to support us with this cause and donate what they can. A shoebox full of gifts will not only make a child feel very excited and happy this Christmas, but also feel valued and special.’
Please show your support and drop off a Christmas shoebox to Specsavers Nenagh before Saturday, 24 November – so your gift reaches a little boy or girl in time for Christmas day.
Team Hope is an Irish, Christian development aid charity, working with children and their families in communities mainly across Eastern Europe, former Soviet Union and Africa. Team Hope is best known for their annual Christmas Shoebox appeal, however, the charity does help children all year round through a variety of community development projects.
