Introducing your local team
Specsavers Nenagh, open since 2006, is run by store directors Orla Moynihan and Sandra Cooke. Having started their careers at Specsavers Limerick when they were just 19 years old, Orlagh and Sandra bring with them a combined experience of over 20 years.
Meet the team
The professional team, comprising fifteen staff, include audiologist Kathleen Hickey, three optoms; Trina Staunton, Daniel Casey, and store director Sandra Cooke, as well as three dispensing opticians; store director Orlagh Moynihan, Michelle Byrne and Dimi Gavukovskis.
The store has six optical assistants, Criona Cantwell, Lija Mage, Marian Hackett, Jessica Stokes – all of whom are local to Tipperary – along with Mary Simms, Mary Quinlivan and Shelia Simms completes the team as the store’s lab manager.

The store currently has four optical assistants in training for their respective cert three and cert four qualifications.

Taking care of your optical health
From routine eye examinations to complex contact lens fittings, Specsavers Nenagh can provide all aspects of professional eye care. The store boasts two optical testing rooms and a dedicated hearing room complete with a soundproof booth to ensure the most accurate results when conducting hearing tests.
The store has also invested in sophisticated optical technology such as Digital Precision Eyecare, a cutting edge new way of selecting and fitting customers’ glasses using imaging software on tablet devices, and a Fundus Camera, which can detect a variety of health problems such as diabetes glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration.
Taking care of your hearing health
In addition to being experts in eye health, Specsavers Nenagh also specialises in hearing with an on-site hearing centre, overseen by local audiologist Kathleen Hickey. The store provides free three-minute hearing screenings, with no need to book an appointment and the screener lets customers know whether they would benefit from a full hearing test.

Specsavers Nenagh is a local community optician and hearing centre, where supporting local clubs and charities is a key part of the store’s culture. The store fundraises throughout the year for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin as well as being the main sponsor of the Silvermines Ladies Football team.
