Staff member wins Customer First Award

Store member, Derek Kerby was recently awarded with a Customer First Award for his dedicated and strong work ethic.

Long serving employee

Derek, a native from Ballinteer joined Specsavers in February 2007 as an optical assistant after moving to Cambridge to continue his career with Specsavers. Derek then began training in Anglia Ruskin, to become an ophthalmic dispenser and qualified in 2010.

Global traveller

Continuing to progress in his successful optical career, after Derek received his qualification, he was appointed store manager at the Specsavers Cambridge Fitzroy. Derek successfully managed the store until 2014 before taking the decision to leave the UK and basing himself in New Zealand.

Specsavers family

Deciding to continue his career with Specsavers in New Zealand, Derek then worked as a supervisor in Specsavers Papanui, Christchurch and later as a store manager in Specsavers Takapuna, Auckland.

Looking to the future

Derek returned to Ireland in 2015 and worked in Specsavers Tallaght as a Dispensing Optician and in-store trainer before joining the Clondalkin team in March 2017.
