Specsavers Ireland recently announced its commitment to raise €100,000 over the next year for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin to contribute towards the hospital’s ophthalmology unit.
Committed to cycling
Specsavers Castlebar, along with Specsavers stores nationwide, committed to cycling the circumference of Ireland (5,600kms) on Saturday 7th June, with Specsavers Castlebar raising over €500 for Specsavers’ chosen charity of the year. Reg Cowie of Covey Wheelers, Westport Cycling Club generously donated the bicycle to the store on the day.
There was a fantastic effort made by the entire Specsavers team, together with the local people of Castlebar, who together succeeded in cycling the target of 120km on the day.
Last year, 2,574 children from Co. Mayo attended Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, meaning there were on average 7 admittances each day.
