Achievement

Commenting on the announcement of the shortlist, Lisa Walsh, retail director of Specsavers Liffey Valley, says: ‘We are delighted that, in partnership with our amazing friends at The Hope Foundation, we have been shortlisted for this award. It’s an honour to have all our hard work recognised as it has been our privilege across the Specsavers stores to have been able to play a role in the incredible work. Hope tirelessly work to combat the dire living conditions in the poverty-stricken city of Kolkata and bring much-needed eye care to those in need. We at Specsavers have worked with Hope for three years and are committed to continuing in our mission to raise vital funds and fund the Hope Hospital Eye Clinic’, continued Lisa who has championed this partnership from the outset has completed two missions to Kolkata in recent years and is currently planning another team mission for later this year to bring eye care to the street and slum communities.

Positive Impact

Speaking on behalf of The Hope Foundation, director and founder Maureen Forrest said, ‘Our partnership with Specsavers is having a profound impact in Kolkata. It is hard to believe that in these times something as simple as an eye test and lack of glasses is preventing adults and children from attending school and finding jobs. Specsavers support has transformed this hopeless situation for thousands of people, changing lives in the process. Not only do they fundraise for the partnership, but they send staff over to Kolkata to give their valuable time and skills on the ground, to meet the beneficiaries and to witness the difference first-hand. We are so grateful and proud of what has been achieved so far, I am delighted to see Specsavers efforts recognised for the incredible work they are doing, and I am looking forward to attending the awards ceremony on the 20th of June.’
