The opticians and their staff working at Specsavers in Navan teamed up with the Irish Cancer Society on Sunday 5th October to show its support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The store sponsored the Boyne Valley Pink Ribbon Walk which invited both runners and walkers to participate with the aim of raising €100 each for the charity. Registration forms and sponsorship packs were available in store at Specsavers Navan for participants who walked in aid of Action Breast Cancer.

New route

The new 10km route this year started and finished in Kells, and took a circular route around Maudlin, Cherry Hill and the grounds of Headfort House. Since starting in 2008, the Walks have raised almost €1,000,000 for charity.

25,000 irish women helped

Action Breast Cancer reaches over 25,000 women in Ireland each year and contributes towards funding counselling and patient support, breast awareness education, specialist nurses, a phone helpline, patient grants and other vital services.
