Specsavers Kilkenny is delighted to announce the arrival of a state of the art Hearcare service to the Market Cross Shopping Centre store.

St Luke’s Hospital

As part of the celebrations, Specsavers Kilkenny hosted a week long schedule of activities for the community to enjoy, including a fundraiser in aid of St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny to go towards a new MRI scanner for the charity.

Bake sale

The store proudly raised over €500 at a bake sale.

Excellent service

With over 25 years’ experience in audiology, Mr Dermot Dougan, Hearing Director at Specsavers Kilkenny, said: “In keeping with the tradition of excellent service together with value for money, which has been part of the ethos of the store, we have now expanded into the realm of Hearcare.”

Hearcare clinic

Together with leading Audiologist Lisa Hanrahan, a Kilkenny native who has over 9 years’ experience, and Specsavers’ professional team runs a hearcare clinic from Tuesday to Friday, 9am until 5pm.

National survey

In a national survey(1) conducted by Specsavers on the attitudes of Irish people towards hearing loss, almost half of the respondents worryingly stated that they agreed that gradual hearing loss is part and parcel of getting old and not necessarily a condition that can be treated.

Remove the stigma

Commenting on these results, Mr. Dougan says: “It’s time to remove the stigma associated with hearing loss and to normalise it, much as we’ve already done with glasses, by offering people easy access to top quality, affordable hearing services that can be fitted on the same day as testing.”

Free assessment

The store provides the people of Kilkenny and its surrounding areas with a comprehensive audiological service which includes an initial free assessment, free aftercare, full back up service together with a 90 day ‘no quibble’ return guarantee.

Digital hearing aids

Kilkenny hearing centre boasts hi-tech facilities and all Specsavers digital hearing aids are sold as part of a complete hearing package. From the starting price of €750 this includes:

• Two hearing aids at one low price

• Four years’ worth of batteries

• Four year guarantee (representing a two year extension to the manufacturer’s guarantee)

• Telecoil / auto-telephone

• Directional microphones

The store also held a series of raffles in aid of St. Luke’s Hospital for a chance to win a host of goodies, not to mention the overall prize of a €1,000 towards the cost of a Hearcare package.

The Hearcare team at Specsavers Kilkenny wish to thank the local businesses that leant their support to the raffle, including Lloyds Pharmacy, City Hair Studio, Mr. Simms Sweet Shop, Wallis, Dubray Books and Heatons as well as their customers for the support to date and look forward to welcoming them as well as new customers to the store.
