Specsavers Clondalkin and Liffey Valley stores recently joined forces and hosted a charity fundraising waxing event at the Specsavers Liffey Valley store to help raise funds needed to commence the refurbishment of a new Ophthalmology Unit in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Final target

Specsavers stores across Ireland had pledged to raise €100,000 for the charity and is on track to hitting the final target with the help of Specsavers Clondalkin.

Sponsored waxing event

On the night, Specsavers Clondalkin and Liffey Valley held a sponsored waxing event with five courageous males from the Specsavers Clondalkin store stepping up in aid of this worthy cause. The stores teamed up with local beautician, Becca Buckley, who was on hand on the night to carry out all waxing activity.

Lots of spot prizes

Following the event, the store hosted a raffle with lots of spot prizes to giveaway to all attendees. Generous donations were received from stores in the Mill Shopping Centre including; McLoughlin’s Butchers, Lloyds Pharmacy and Kavanagh’s Homeware store as well as Eddie Rockets, Nando’s and Boots located in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre.

Fundraising achievements

Edwina Keenan, store manager at Specsavers Clondalkin said ‘We are absolutely delighted with our fundraising achievements to date and working with Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, over the past few months has been wonderful. Our waxing event with Specsavers Liffey Valley was a massive success raising almost €1,200 so we would like to say a big thank you to all guests who attended, not to mention to all the brave male Specsavers staff who took part in the waxing. We deeply admire the miraculous work the charity does for children across Ireland and look forward to continuing our work with them’.
