Mobile audiology van arrives at Mallow Home and Garden Festival
To celebrate the fifth year of the Specsavers’ Sound Check Ireland Roadshow, Specsavers announced that they would be introducing two mobile hearing vans to travel the length and breadth of the country to raise awareness of the importance of hearing throughout the year.
Mobile hearing test vans
These special mobile hearing test vans are designed to make it even easier for people to take the first step in tackling hearing loss. Free on-site hearing screenings and professional advice will be available to anyone who is concerned about their hearing.
The hearing van will be visiting The Mallow Home and Garden Festival in Cork Race Course in Mallow on:
Friday, 27 May, 11am to 6pm
Saturday, 28 May, 11am to 6pm
Sunday, 29 May, 11am to 6pm
Regular hearing tests
Director Iain MacCallum commented on the importance of regular hearing tests: 'Untreated hearing loss can impact negatively on all areas of daily life so if you suspect that someone close to you struggles with their hearing, don’t let them suffer in silence and encourage them to seek advice'.
Depression and social isolation
Hearing loss can affect every aspect of life and can lead to depression and social isolation which is why early diagnosis is essential. Identifying the problem early and addressing hearing loss with an expert can mean preserving the ability to communicate with friends and family well into Regular hearing checks should be part of everyone’s healthcare routine and at Specsavers Mallow, we recommend that people over the age of 55 get a hearing test every two years.
