Specsavers in Bray has raised €250 for Crumlin Children’s Hospital, Ireland’s largest paediatric hospital.

It was part of a bigger fundraising effort by optical assistant, Aisling Gallivan whose three-year-old niece has been treated at the hospital for leukaemia.

The hospital is trying to raise €9m to update and expand its St John’s Cancer Ward. So far €4.5m has been raised, allowing the hospital to complete the first phase of the project.

Store director Diana Doll said: ‘The fundraising for Crumlin Children’s Hospital is very important to everyone here at Specsavers Bray and we are proud to be supporting the charity in any way we can.’
