Sound Check Ireland
To celebrate the fifth year of the Specsavers' Sound Check Ireland Roadshow this year, Specsavers introduced two mobile hearing vans which travel the length and breadth of the country throughout the year to highlight the importance of hearing health and make it even easier for people to take the first step towards better hearing.
Speaking on the importance of taking a proactive approach to hearing health, Padraig McGowan, Specsavers Cavan Audiologist says ‘Regular hearing checks should be part of everyone’s healthcare routine and at Specsavers we recommend that people over the age of 55 get a hearing test every two years. The hearing van is designed to make it even easier for people to take the first step in tackling hearing loss and to ensure that anyone concerned about their hearing has access to free and professional advice.’
Depression and social isolation
Untreated hearing loss can affect every aspect of life and can lead to depression and social isolation which is why early diagnosis is essential. Identifying the problem early and addressing hearing loss with an expert can mean preserving the ability to communicate with friends and family well into later life.
No need to book
The hearing van provides free three-minute hearing screenings, with no need to book an appointment in advance. The screener lets customers know if they would benefit from a full test, which takes approximately one hour in store.
