Leinster rugby superstar Cian Healy has teamed up with Specsavers to launch this year’s children’s writing competition: the search for Ireland’s most Unbreakable Friendship.
Specsavers is embarking on a search for the nation’s most unbreakable childhood friendships to match its SuperTough lenses in children’s glasses that are proven to be unbreakable.
All children have to do to enter the Unbreakable Friendship competition is describe why they have an unbreakable friendship, with the best story winning a fantastic day out for them and their friends. Younger children, under 12 years old, can win a day out at Dublin Zoo, including a meet-and-greet with a keeper and a special zoo tour. In the older category, under-16’s can win an opportunity to test out their super-toughness at The Gravity Extreme Adventure Forest Park in Wexford, including the new Extreme Leap of Faith. Entry forms are available at any of the 44 Specsavers stores nationwide.
Owen Blee, chairman of Specsavers in Ireland, says: ‘We’re really delighted to launch our nationwide search for Unbreakable Friendships with Cian Healy, a super-tough Irish rugby star who also doesn’t break or crack under pressure.
’The unbreakable lenses named SuperTough, are made from a material called Trivex, which is more impact-resistant than standard plastics or glass and offers 100 percent UV protection. The lenses are also lighter than standard plastic equivalents, so are more comfortable to wear.
Cian Healy shared his thoughts at the launch: ‘Having worn glasses as a child I can fully relate to how accidents can happen to lenses when mucking about. These SuperTough lenses will allow children to really get involved in the things they love, without worrying about breaking their lenses, so they can get stuck in and enjoy being a kid – I just wish they had been around when I was young’.
Parents can also feel safe in the knowledge that SuperTough lenses come as standard in glasses for under-16s. At Specsavers, all glasses in the kids’ €55 range are free with an under-12s’ HSE optical voucher. Specsavers offers new SuperTough single vision lenses free in their children’s glasses as standard.
