Specsavers Killarney is run by director Thomas Doyle with 20 years’ of experience behind him. The Killorglin born optician started his career as a director with Specsavers in London in 1999. Even though his Peckham store was thriving, “Coming home was always on the cards”, said Thomas. First setting up in Tralee and then focusing his attention on Killarney, 10 years on, the decision was one that’s proved visionary. Since opening its doors, the store has welcomed over 20,000 customers.
Exceptional customer care
Specsavers Killarney turns 10 this year and for good reason. Having become an integral part of the community, providing optical expertise and stylish yet affordable eye wear for glasses and non-glasses wearers alike, Thomas Doyle and this Store Manager Sharon McCarthy put it down to professionalism and exceptional customer service. Highly trained team Thomas and his highly trained team pride themselves on providing a comprehensive service.
A graduate of DIT and a pioneer in shared care diabetic screening, Thomas is highly accustomed with the sophisticated fundus camera, a state of the art piece of equipment which Specsavers has invested in that can play an important role in the early detection of eye disease such as glaucoma and macular degeneration. Thomas and Sharon’s team of experienced optometrists and trained customer service staff, bring an affordable offering of designer frames to Killarney.
Spectacle wearers can choose from a range of affordable and stylish eyewear from designer brands such as John Rocha, GW by Gok Wan, Karl Lagerfeld, Karen Millen and Specsavers own designer brand, Aurora, while younger specs wearers can stay busy with SuperTough lenses. The store’s on-site lab provides a quick turnaround on prescription glasses, something that works particularly well for customers on a busy schedule.
Contact lenses care is also second to none. With over twenty years of experience in fitting contact lenses in even the most challenging circumstances, whether you’re a budding sports star or suffer from dry eyes, Thomas Doyle ensures your eyes will be in very good hands.
In addition to being experts in eye health, Specsavers Killarney also specialise in hearcare with an on-site hearing centre managed by highly trained audiologist Rory Perry. A free hearcare screening is provided at the Killarney store which involves a simple three minute test with no appointment necessary. The Specsavers hearing screener provides a way for customers to monitor their hearing and guarantee regular hearing tests.
First class optical care
When he was setting up Killarney Specsavers, providing first class optical care locally was one of Doyle’s goals – 10 years on, success speaks for itself. But sitting still is never an option. “We’re always looking to improve – through training, investment in technology and improved customer care. We always listen to our customers. After all our customers are our business.” With that in mind, Specsavers Killarney looks forward to its next 10 years in business.
