Bright for Sight fundraiser in store
This Friday, 8 September, will see Specsavers Wexford host a yellow-themed fundraiser in aid of Bright for Sight – a Sightsavers initiative dedicated to raising awareness of avoidable blindness in developing countries.
Yellow is a colour that stands out to most people living with a visual impairment and so, the team will leave their uniforms at home this Friday and don bright, yellow clothing. Baking aficionados will bring their yellow-themed creations in store on the day and are calling on locals to pop in and show their support.
Bright for Sight
Bright for Sight is a Sightsavers fundraising initiative that seeks to prevent avoidable blindness and restore sight in developing countries. With the help of charity fundraisers, such as Bright for Sight at Specsavers Wexford this Friday, a number of eye conditions including trachoma, cataracts, glaucoma, river blindness and refractive errors can be treated in poverty stricken communities.
As poverty is both the cause and effect of much of the blindness across the world, Specsavers Wexford is keen to do all it can to support this cause and ultimately reduce the stats associated with sight loss across the world.
Store director at Specsavers Wexford, Steve Schokman, says: ‘In Ireland, we have access to excellent eyecare but many people, both children and adults, are not as lucky in developing countries, making it vital that we do all we can to improve their eye health services in any way we can.
'We’re really looking forward to a successful fundraising day on Friday and are eager to see several of the team show off their ‘Bake-Off’ inspired creations for customers to enjoy! We urge shoppers to give what they can on the day and a raffle will be held in-store for a chance to win a pair of designer frames of the winner’s choice.’
