Specsavers opened its doors in the Golden Island Shopping Centre, Athlone twenty years ago this month, and has been proudly serving the people of the local community ever since.
Store directors Hugh Morris and Keith McCallion, along with a team of experienced optometrists, audiologists and highly trained customer service staff are celebrating 20 fantastic years in business this year.
To mark the occasion, Specsavers Athlone will welcome the iRadio Roadshow to the store this Saturday, 24 March for an afternoon of celebration, in-store giveaways, music and chat.
The store will be hosting an in-store fundraiser in aid of Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin on the day also – with shoppers of the Golden Island Shopping Centre encouraged to pop in on the day, show their support and be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes.
Speaking of the store’s milestone, store director Keith McCallion commented: 'Twenty years on, Athlone’s premier shopping destination demonstrates the trust that our customers have in the brand and in the Golden Island Shopping Centre store. Since opening in 1998, we have grown significantly and have undergone a number of improvements so that our store boasts the latest in optical and hearing technology for the people of Athlone.'
The store employs 26 full time and two part-time staff in total with the team comprising four optometrists, five dispensing opticians and two audiologists, along with a team of highly trained optical experts and customer service staff.
Specsavers Athlone has three optical testing rooms, boasting all the latest equipment including a Fundus Camera for early detection of disease, and Digital Precision Eyecare; a cutting-edge way of selecting and fitting customers’ glasses using imaging software on tablet devices.
In addition to being experts in eye health, Specsavers Athlone also boasts an on-site hearing centre managed by audiology director Lynn Morris, testing in store six days a week. The store provides the people of Athlone and its surrounding areas with a comprehensive and highly professional audiological service.
Providing free three-minute hearing screenings with no need to book an appointment no obligation to buy, the screener lets customers know whether they would benefit from a full hearing test, which takes about an hour.
