Continuing in its commitment to improve the service it offers to the local community, Specsavers Athlone has undergone a major refurbishment. The state-of-the-art optical and hearing facility was recently unveiled by the Mayor of Athlone, Aengus O’Rourke as customers were invited to join in the celebrations.
To mark the momentous occasion, customers were greeted on entry to the store via a green and white balloon arch where the store’s team of professionals were on hand to not only welcome guests but to also talk to customers and advise them on any hearing and optical queries they had.
Over 25 years
Bringing with them a combined experience of over 25 years, Hugh and Keith were appointed as store directors in 2005 and 2007 respectively. Together with their team of experienced optometrists, audiologists and highly trained customer service staff, they have strived to provide the best level of service and expertise in hearing and optical care for the people of Athlone for over 12 years.

The store now boasts 3 optical testing rooms, having just installed an additional two testing rooms as part of the refurbishment. There has been significant investment in the latest optical technology, most recently Digital Precision Eyecare. This cutting edge way of selecting and fitting customers’ glasses uses imaging software on tablet devices.
Since opening in 1998, the Specsavers Athlone team has increased from a team of five to 25, which now comprises four optometrists, three dispensing opticians and two audiologists.
Developing and improving
Store director Keith McCallion says: ‘At Specsavers, we are committed to developing and improving our store so that customers have access to the latest technology as well as in-store expertise from knowledgeable optometrists and audiologists. We were delighted to welcome both new and old customers alike to the unveiling of the store’s new refit.
