Specsavers Tallaght’s fundraising activities reached new heights as staff participated in a static cycle challenge with a view to raising funds for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Massive success

Specsavers Tallaght’s dedicated employees took turns to cycle for more than seven hours on Saturday, 14 May. Customers were invited to drop into their local Specsavers and show their support by getting involved or making a donation to the charity. Throughout the day, glasses repairs were done for free with customers donating their chosen amount to the worthwhile cause. The day was a massive success with the store raising a total of €1,300 for the worthwhile cause.

Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin

Having exceeded the initial €100,000 fundraising target, Specsavers Ireland recently presented Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin with a cheque for €120,000 and announced that it would be extending its commitment to the hospital by pledging to raise an additional €100,000.

Climb for Crumlin

As part of the recently launched ‘Climb for Crumlin’ campaign, Specsavers staff member Tony Power has embarked on the epic journey of climbing to Mount Everest Base Camp to help raise the much needed funds for the refurbishment of the new ophthalmology department at the hospital. Specsavers staff in Tallaght will continue stepping up to the challenge with the aim of raising €3,000 through various fundraising activities including climbing five mountains throughout Ireland as well as completing two 10K runs all in aid of the charity.

Unwavering support

Store Director James Ryan would like to thank the local community for their unwavering support. James stated, ‘Once again, we are amazed by the support of our staff, customers and local community. The generosity we have experienced is overwhelming. One step at a time, we can make a big difference to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.’
