Advantage for Rugby League match officials

League referees Ben Thaler, Tim Roby, Phil Bentham unveiled the new referee kit with Tyrone McCarthy.

Specsavers has renewed its commitment to professionalism and fair play in sport in announcing its sponsorship of the match officials during the Rugby League World Cup 2013.

Irish rugby international, Tyrone McCarthy was on hand to unveil the new referee kit along with Super League referees Ben Thaler, Tim Roby and Phil Bentham recently Home nations players Ben Kavanagh of Scotland, Lloyd White of Wales and Jon Wilkin of England were also in attendance.

Helping the experts to do their job well

Owen Blee of Specsavers says: ‘This sponsorship builds on our existing sporting pledge to help the experts to see. Technological advancements in recent years have certainly helped match officials but we’re glad to do our bit where we can to help ensure that they get the best possible support to do their job.’

Rugby League World Cup 2013 tournament general manager, Sally Bolton says: ‘It is fantastic news to welcome Specsavers as a partner of Rugby League World Cup 2013, they are a perfect match for sponsorship of the RLWC2013 match officials. ‘We are excited about making the most of the partnership as we continue to the countdown to Rugby League World Cup 2013.’

With the Rugby League World Cup 2013 kicking off on Saturday 26 October, Specsavers branding will appear on perimeter boards, metre markers and corner posts on the pitch. The partnership follows Specsavers’ sponsorship of the match officials on the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia and Hong Kong earlier this year. Specsavers also sponsors the Hawk-Eye technology at Croke Park, the RaboDirect PRO12 rugby league and the Irish Ladies GAA.
