A fantastic €2,005 is raised for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital

Fundraising activities for Specsavers Drogheda reached new heights as staff, customers and passers-by participated in a stair climber challenge to raise funds for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Massive success

Customers were invited to drop into their local Specsavers and show their support by getting involved in the climb or making a donation to the charity. The day was a massive success with the store raising €2,005 for the worthwhile cause.

Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin

Specsavers Drogheda Director David McCloskey said, “We would like to thank the local community for their unwavering support. We were amazed by the level of enthusiasm and the generosity of customers and staff who really got behind the campaign. Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin provides invaluable care to sick children and the money raised is enabling the charity to make a tremendous difference to the lives of families across the country.” Having exceeded the initial €100,000 fundraising target, Specsavers Ireland recently presented Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin with a cheque for €120,000 and announced that it would be extending its commitment to the hospital by pledging to raise an additional €100,000.

Mount Everest Base Camp climb

As part of the recently launched ‘Climb for Crumlin’ campaign, Specsavers staff member Tony Power will embark on the epic journey of climbing to Mount Everest Base Camp to help raise much needed funds for the refurbishment of the new ophthalmology department at the hospital. Specsavers staff across the country will continue stepping up to the challenge with their own in-store fundraising activities in the coming months to ensure they reach their target.

Additionally, wish Cards can be purchased in all Specsavers stores for €1 and Specsavers will match every €1, with all funds going to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. These wishes will be delivered to the Base Camp of Everest, where they will be buried by monks.
