Noel Meehan has been recognised for his work with Vision Aid Overseas and Galway Lions Club.
The owner of Specsavers store in Galway Noel Meehan has received a prestigious accolade in being named one of the recipients of the 'People of the Year' awards following his voluntary work with Vision Aid Overseas and Galway Lions Club.
 
Noel, who is a team leader with Vision Aid Overseas has completed seven overseas trips with the charity; travelling to India, Ghana, Ethiopa and Zambia and Friends of Belarus North Galway Group, which comprises tradesmen who travel to hospitals and orphanages in Belarus and Russia each year to undertake building and renovation projects.
 
The Rehab Galway People of the Year awards give public recognition to people who through their personal leadership, participation, courage or achievement have made an outstanding contribution to their community. All winners were chosen by the people of Galway through a nomination process and finalised through an independent adjudication committee.
