The Specsavers Sound Check Ireland hearing booth visited us in the Dun Laoghaire shopping centre on 1st and 2nd May to provide free hearing screenings.
As well as an opportunity to avail of the screenings, the public also had an opportunity to speak to a qualified Specsavers audiologist about any hearing concerns they may have had.
Sound Check Ireland
Sound Check Ireland is a roadshow that is travelling around the country providing free hearing screenings to the public. The hearing booth is staffed by highly trained experts and is equipped with a simple audiology test that takes just a few minutes to complete. A Specsavers hearing aid audiologist is on hand to read each individual test and explain the readings to every participant.
Gradual hearing loss is part and parcel of getting old
In a recent national survey conducted by Specsavers on the attitudes of Irish people towards hearing loss, almost half of the respondents worryingly stated that they agreed that gradual hearing loss is part and parcel of getting old and not necessarily a condition that can be treated.
Orla Walsh, the Specsavers hearing director in Dun Laoghaire, says ‘It’s time to remove the stigma associated with hearing loss and show that it is a normal every day occurence. We want to help make it more acceptable to wear hearing aids, much as we’ve already done with glasses, by offering people easy access to top quality, affordable hearing services. We’re very pleased to have been able to give south Dublin shoppers a free hearing test and answer their queries.’
