I have lost some hearing after a bad cold. Is there anything I should do about it? When my hearing improves I don't feel as though I need a hearing aid.
Answer:
It is not unusual to feel that you have lost some hearing when suffering from a heavy cold or chest infection. It is usually caused by congestion in the sinuses which can then spread into the middle ear area.
It is usually nothing to worry about and, as you have found, your hearing goes back to normal once the cold clears up. If the hearing does not return to normal after a couple of weeks, speak to your GP for further advice.
