Choosing a hearing aid

If you have had a hearing test and it showed that you would benefit from wearing a hearing aid, one of our qualified hearing professionals will explain the range of aids which are suitable for you.

Technological advancements mean that hearing aids are now smaller than ever, and you can have a small and discreet hearing aid fitted that helps you carry on enjoying life as before.

Our customers often tell us that friends and family can’t tell they’re wearing one – in fact they find it’s actually more noticeable to keep asking people to repeat themselves than it is to wear hearing aids.

Hearing aids are programmed to your needs

Whatever digital hearing aid you choose it will be programmed, or tuned, to your individual hearing requirements.

Then a qualified hearing professional will talk you through all its functions so that you know exactly how it works. They will also make sure it fits correctly and comfortably in your ear, or behind your ear if that is the cosmetic option you have chosen.

If you need any further advice, our staff will be happy to help you. And of course at Specsavers Hearing Centres all our services are free, from hearing tests to fitting and aftercare.

What happens when you choose a hearing aid?

If you choose an open fit style you could walk out with your hearing aids professionally fitted and programmed on the same day as your hearing test.

If you choose an "in the ear" style, a mould of your ear canal is taken to ensure your hearing aid fits perfectly and it is very comfortable to wear. Once your hearing aids are ordered, they will be available for fitting within 14 days. You will be invited back for a fitting appointment which will take approximately 45 minutes. At your fitting appointment, we will show you everything you need to know about your new hearing aids and answer any questions you or your family may have. Once fitted, a follow-up appointment will be booked within 4 weeks to check that you are completely happy with your purchase.
