Regular eye tests are a simple way of making sure that your eyes are healthy, as well as spotting underlying health issues like diabetes and high blood pressure. Despite this, more than 50% of people in Ireland are not having a regular eye test as recommended.
This is mostly due to a lack of awareness of the importance of eye tests, and the common misconception that an eye test is only needed when you notice a change in your vision.
We’re proud to be partnering with NCBI to educate people about their eye health and raise awareness of how regular eye tests can help to reduce avoidable sight loss.

Do you need an eye test?
We recommend that you book an eye test every two years. However, if you notice any difference in your vision, fall into a certain age group, or have started experiencing problems with your eyes, it’s best to book an eye test appointment as soon as possible.
You can book an appointment online or by calling your local Specsavers store.
What is involved in an eye test?
An eye test provides a comprehensive health assessment of the eyes and can detect signs of a number of sight-threatening conditions, including cataracts and glaucoma, which if detected early can be more successfully treated.
We do lots of tests to look at the health of your eyes. Here’s how a typical eye test goes.
Did you know an eye test could save your life?
For some of our customers, an appointment with Specsavers has not only saved their vision but in some cases it has saved their lives.
‘I would like you now to go and put your house in order’
‘We could have lost him in two days’
‘You’ve got to take me to A&E’
‘I’m so grateful I went in that day, I think he saved my sight’
