When Iris had her eyes tested recently she’d mentioned that she’d like to try contact lenses, so today Iris is back at Specsavers for a contact lens appointment.
Before her contact lens consultation begins, Iris and the optician talk about what type of lenses would be best for her lifestyle, and the optician talks her through the suitable options, such as daily disposable, monthly disposable and continuous wear lenses.
Iris doesn’t need another eye test but the optician does want to check the front surface of her eyes to make sure there’s nothing to stop Iris wearing contact lenses safely and comfortably.
Iris has decided which lenses she’d like to wear, so she tries them out, walking around the store for about 10 minutes to get used to them.
Then, the optician checks to see that the lenses fit well and tests iris’s near and distant vision, as well as one further check to make sure they’ll stay comfortable. She’s happy that Iris’s lenses are right for her, so she hands Iris over to an optical advisor, who talks Iris through everything she needs to know as a new contact lens wearer.
The advisor also makes sure Iris is confident putting them in and taking them out herself, and then teaches her how to look after them. She explains why aftercare is important with contact lenses, so Iris books in for an appointment in a few weeks’ time.
